Hospital Cancer Registrar
Increasing cancer rates and growing demands for data to support research into new therapies propelled Feather River Hospital to welcome new Cancer Registrar, Susan Artin-Daniel to the Cancer Center. The registrars job is to be the starting point of cancer research and statistics through gathering and coding detailed information from each and every cancer patient and following up with the patient annually for his or her lifetime. Registry data stimulates cancer awareness and guides public health interventions on a local level. Also, the registry data are being used to study cancer etiology, incidence, and care among statewide population groups, as well as to plan and evaluate cancer prevention, control, and treatment efforts nationwide. As Cancer Registrar, Susan is up to the task. With years of office administration and data delivery experience at City of Hope in Pasadena, Susan is well aware of the importance of keeping health care statistics. With the increased demand for current comprehensive cancer data used for research and public awareness, the registrars role has become an integral part of the national cancer surveillance system, said Susan. Not only is Susan the Cancer Registrar but she is also working towards the Cancer Centers accreditation to the American College of Surgeons as an official Community Hospital Cancer Program. Feather River Hospital is doing a great job associating itself with larger institutions. The Cancer Center will stay ahead of the curve in providing state-of-the-art medical treatment with its relationship with Loma Linda University. Susan said the move from a hustle-bustle city atmosphere to a close-knit community is a good one. She said she has been warmly accepted as a member of the Cancer Center team and hopes to make a difference in the lives of local cancer patients. The doctors and staff are not only clinically qualified but they have a sense of compassion that is important when working with patients, said Susan. Im proud to be a member of the Cancer Center team. |
