Volunteer Opportunities
Feather River Hospital volunteers have something very special to offer—themselves. By donating their time and energy, hospital volunteers provide extra services that supplement the basic functions of the hospital's professional staff—services which add to the comfort, care and happiness of each patient.
Our volunteers bring a wealth of experience to their work experience, which benefits patients, hospital staff and the community as a whole.
Why Volunteer?
Feather River Hospital volunteers not only give—they receive. In volunteering, they have a chance to:
- Learn new skills;
- Develop new interests;
- Make new friends; and
- Enjoy the satisfaction that comes from helping other.
How Do Volunteers Help?
No matter where their efforts are given, Feather River Hospital volunteers provide valuable service to their own community.
- Fundraising—Volunteers can work in the Gift Shop, Thrift Shop or help raise funds at special events with the hospital's auxiliary.
- Organizational Support—Some volunteers choose to help out various hospital department offices and clinical departments.
- Community Services—The Lifeline(tm) program provide security for local residents who live alone. These essential programs are staffed and administered by volunteers. Some folks also help with community events such as flu clinics and health fairs.
Who Can Volunteer?
We welcome men, women and teenagers (15 or older) as members of the Feather River Hospital Auxiliary. Volunteering offers these individuals many opportunities to use their talents in assisting patients and visitors. Volunteer hours are arranged to fit your personal schedule.
Junior Volunteers
There are many opportunities available for young adults (over the age of 15) to volunteer. Volunteering looks great on college applications and can help when applying for scholarships. There are a few departments with opportunities that fit into a school schedule. Such opportunities include:
- Emergency Room (after school – 8 pm),
- OB Lobby (4 pm – 8pm), and
- Paradise Thrift Shop (Sundays 12 pm – 4 pm).
- Hospital Gift Shop (Mon. - Thurs. 4 pm – 8 pm).
Volunteering can be a fun way to explore careers in a hospital setting; it will also leave you with a feeling of accomplishment that you are helping others. If you are interested in volunteering for your senior project please make sure that you have at least one year of experience volunteering with us before counting it toward that project.
