Hospice services are designed to improve the quality of life — physical, social, psychological, and spiritual —for terminally ill people of all ages during the last months of their lives. The specially trained Hospice Team includes physicians, nurses, home health aides, chaplains, social workers, and volunteers dedicated to helping patients live as comfortably as possible at their place of residence.
The Paradise Hospice House, a state-of-the-art facility with six private rooms, provides around-the-clock inpatient care in a homelike setting to all eligible individuals needing hospice care.
The option for the terminally ill patient to receive care at their place of residence.
Physician supervision of care
A plan of care developed by the hospice team for pain and symptom management
Twenty-four-hour, on-call availability of hospice nurse for crisis intervention
Provision of specific medications and equipment
Home health aide service based on patient and family needs
Social work services to assist patients and families with social, economic, or psychological needs
Chaplain services for counseling and spiritual support
Volunteer services provided in the patient’s home environment
Continuous level of care only during periods of crisis, to maintain the patient at home
Up to five days of respite care provided in a contracted facility for patients at home
Inpatient care in a contracted facility for acute and severe symptoms which cannot be managed in other settings
Bereavement counseling and family support groups
Our program is a hospice licensed, Medicare and Medi-Cal certified agency, accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Medicare and Medi-Cal provide a wide range of hospice benefits for eligible individuals. We negotiate with private insurance companies on behalf of our patients for the costs of our services. Memorial gifts and other donations are gratefully accepted.

Hospice House provides around-the-clock inpatient services in a homelike setting to all eligible individuals needing hospice care. The living room, dining room, family room, and adjoining patios provide additional areas for family gatherings and patient socialization, The Hospice House Cook prepares daily nutritious meals that are modified to each patient’s individual tastes.
Our primary purpose, for extending our hospice services to include an inpatient option, is to ensure the safety of hospice patients. Our conclusion after years of experience is that caring for loved ones can become too difficult…the Paradise Hospice House is here to help.

The referring physician and the Hospice Medical Director confirm life expectancy of approximately six months.
The referring physician agrees to order hospice care and to remain involved in the medical care provided.
The referring physician and patient agree to palliative care.
The patient and/or family members are aware of diagnosis and prognosis.
There is adequate family or other support available to provide care for the patient at home.
The patient resides within a 45-mile radius of Paradise Hospice House (Hospice House patients may be accepted from outside this radius)
