The department of Medical Imaging at Feather River Hospital provides quality care along with the latest technology. Feather River Hospital is the first in Butte County to have a 64 slice CT scanner. Our General Radiography program is one hundred percent digital.
Radiology—Digital images are produced of the chest, bones, spine, and GI.

Ultrasound—Uses Sound Waves (like sonar) to read solid object in the body. Most often used in OB for pregnant women, or to take images of breasts, abdomens, and other soft tissue.
Nuclear Medicine—Uses a dual head spect camera with a CT scanner.
CT Scan—Feather River Hospital is the first in Butte County to have a 64 slice CT Scanner. This scanner allows for scans of hearts and virtual colonoscopies along with visuals of all other organs.
PET/CT Scan—Combined Nuclear Medicine and CT Scans. In this case, the isotope targets sugar (molecules to look for areas of high metabolism). PET/CT Scans are commonly used to look for cancer.
Cardiac Imaging—The most common procedure done in cardiac imaging is a process where die is injected into the coronary arteries to look for any blockage. Vascular and Interventional Procedures are also conducted. Pacemakers and venacava filters are also installed here.
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)—This technique produces images by using magnetic fields to realign hydrogen atoms. As these hydrogen atoms are moved they send out radio waves. The radio waves are read by a detector and then rendered to create pictures that can be seen as both a whole and slices.
Mammography—Feather River Hospital provides an ultrasound guided breast biopsy. Needle localizations of the breast and nuclear Sentinel Node Injections aide surgeons during breast surgeries.
Radiography and lab draws are available at our Health Clinic and Outpatient Center. No appointments needed.
