Financial Services

Insured Patients

Feather River Hospital accepts and bills most insurance companies as a courtesy to patients. Your insurer is under contract with you and your employer. Each insurance policy varies. It is your responsibility to understand the terms and conditions of your insurance coverage. All patients are encouraged to call their insurance companies to obtain accurate information about individual benefits and any pre-certification or authorizations needed for services.

Your insurer may require written or telephonic pre-certification or pre-authorization from you or your physician. Receiving appropriate authorization does not guarantee payment if you have already used your benefit level within the timeframe specified by your insurance company, or if the service is not a covered benefit within your plan.

If your insurance company does not make payment, the bill may ultimately be your responsibility. Contact patient financial service immediately if your insurance information is incorrect.

Uninsured Patients

If you are not covered by insurance, please contact patient financial services to discuss resolution of your accounts. Payment in full is requested. The hospital accepts MasterCard, Visa and Discover Cards. Prompt payment reduces Feather River Hospital Hospital's operating expenses and allows us to offer the best medical care at the lowest possible cost. Payment arrangements and financial assistance are available for qualifying patients.

Financial Assistance

At Feather River Hospital, we are committed to keeping you healthy. As a result, your ability to pay should never stop you from seeking needed care. When you come to us for treatment, our Patient Financial Services Department will be happy to talk to you about payment options. Our financial assistance policies state that:

  • Cash Discounts are available if paid at the time of service. If you do not have or do not qualify for health insurance coverage and you meet certain low to moderate income requirements you may qualify for a partial or full discount. Please contact our customer service department and we will review your financial situation to determine if you are eligible for financial assistance.

  • Our financial counselors will help you find out if you qualify for a government program such as Medicaid (Medi-Cal in California) or Healthy Families. If one of these programs is right for you, they may be able to assist you with the application process.

  • If you do not qualify for a government program, we provide discounts to eligible low-income patients. Please contact our Patient Financial Services department if you cannot pay part of your bill. We will review your financial situation to determine if you are eligible for financial assistance.

Your Hospital Bill

Your Feather River Hospital bill includes charges for goods and services rendered by the hospital and ordered by your physician. Your attending physician, anesthesiologist, radiologist, pathologist and other physicians involved in your care will bill you separately for their services. Each visit to Feather River Hospital is billed individually. An itemized bill is available upon request.

You may contact our patient financial services department with any question or concerns about your bill. The department is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. If you have a billing related question or concern, you can contact a patient financial services representative via any one of the following communication vehicles:
