A visit to the clinic includes a comprehensive evaluation, including an assessment of problems, the affect on lifestyle, and an establishment of clear-cut and attainable goals. We offer exercise testing and training (Balance Master, treadmill, Kin-Com, Sport Kat), conditioning programs, athletic taping, hands-on techniques (soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization, and myofacial release), body mechanics instruction and patient education. Modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, anodyne and iontophoresis are also available. A warm water pool therapy is on-site at our offices. Originally designed by NASA, the system utilizes a force plate and computer to objectively measure weight distribution, reaction time, gait velocity, and stability on uneven surfaces to precisely determine areas of weakness.
Occupational Therapists seek to help individuals function in everyday life by retraining them in the daily living skills of feeding, hygiene, dressing and grooming, and also in job-related tasks such as writing, typing and lifting. Lymphedema is an accumulation of lymphatic fluid that causes swelling of some parts of the body. Treatment consists of manual lymphatic drainage (gentle massage technique), bandaging to facilitate lymph flow and decrease swelling, exercise to increase drainage and restore strength and flexibility.
